Barack Obama left a lasting impression on many of the citizens, students and staff at Claflin University. Some of their comments: Henry N. Tisdale, Claflin University president: "Given such a historic event, it was just natural that it would happen on our historic campus — great fit."
Andre Lemon, Claflin University Student Government Association: "I believe that he would be a great asset to our nation and the black race as a whole." Melvin Pervis: Claflin University student: "Him backing education, that's a real plus." Khirston Howard, Claflin student: "I don't think people really care if you are black or white as long as he has good stands on the issues. He does." Ja'Nel Johnson, Claflin student: "He's a strong black man. It's exciting and inspiring!" Brandon Mack, Claflin SGA: "Being that his views are focused toward issues that affect the African American community, I feel like we will get out and vote." Deandra Bradley, Claflin student: "I would vote for someone who is worthy of the position and I do feel he is worthy because he has a lot of great ideas." Gregory Daniels, Orangeburg native: "He takes a complex issue and puts it into terms that are practical. He seems to have a very common-sense approach." Keywon Harvey, Mr. Claflin University: "As a future educator, I strongly agree with him on the educational aspects of his campaign." Posted Feb. 22, 2007 |
